Flogging Molly music was a major inspiration for this comic. Their music is at times jovial and danceable, and at other times melancholy and reflective. One of my favorite FM songs is "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" (lyrics), a touching, yet happy, ballad to a loved one or friend. The song inspired a scene in the comic, and I knew I'd have to have the song in there in some form for it to work, but remember that COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS BAD PEEPS MMKAY? XD
So what else could I do but write a song of my own?
To get me in the right mindset for the song I had in mind, I first sketched Aislinn off to the side there in a pose I think she'd adopt were she singing this. Then I wrote the ballad here, finishing it off with an insanely long name. XP You can read the poem (minus the chicken-scratch handwriting) here.
Nothing else much to say here except that Aislinn is holding a lute there.
